Mike- Bass Guitar

 

Having first learnt rhythm guitar at the age of 14 and trying to get a school band started Mike turned to bass as no one else wanted to be the ‘bass player’ however with Thin Lizzy being his biggest influence and in particular the late and great Phil Lynott who made it cool to be the ‘bass player’ Mike took to the instrument with enthusiasm ! The usual “Jimmy quit and Jody got married” (as in the words of Bryan Adams) happened and the band split about ten years later and Mike continued to keep his chops up mainly on the bedroom stage. After moving to Derby in 2015 and the kids all grown up Mike got back on the scene depping and jamming and then joined rock covers band Umlaut Overload and then also Synner. Also known as Bassface or the guy with the Ricky, Mike’s bass of choice is his beloved 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 which sounds real vintage through the Ampeg rig. Influences are mainly from the classic rock era but also likes a bit of punk, reggae and bluesy funk .  Mike has now settled into the band and plays an important role in providing support in all areas including the lighting show and social media, oh and he’s also pretty good at plucking that Rickie.
