The Roebuck – Review

After a long break from playing here we were back at the Roebuck,  a great little Sunday afternoon venue with a reputation for putting on quality live music on a regular basis.

I got there a bit late, due to the Douglas Dakota being delayed at the boaters rally I’d attended earlier,  it was a great spectacle and worth the wait.  The guys had pretty much already set up apart from a few tweaks and after moving the car opposite the entrance doors I soon had all the gear in and set up too.

The Roebuck is a corner pub with the bar running down the back wall and the playing area although small, somehow manages to accommodate a 5 piece with some strategic placement of kit.

We had advertised this one regularly so were hoping for a good turnout,  and sure enough the place started to fill up, with plenty of familiar faces and a few new ones.

We cracked off and the sound was good,  after the intro numbers we received warm and hearty applause and this helped us relax and put out as much as we got.  By the time we were approaching the end, there was plenty of head banging and singing along going on and the cheers were deafening.  We hadn’t heard such a loud response since we played that Rock and Bike gig from last year.

After numerous encores we finally ended, by now exhausted but feeling great.  When you get a response like that it makes it all worth while, well done again to the Burton Rockers – The best audiences in the Midlands.   Our next stop is in 2 weeks, where we are opening the Winsterfest festival on the Friday evening, can’t wait and thanks again for making this Sunday so memorable.
