The Chequers Inn – Review
We’ve had a bit of a break from the Chequers since the change of management and there was a period when they were not putting on live bands. The last time we played here was last New Year’s Eve. However, we were recently contacted and asked to perform as the locals had put pressure on to have there favourite live music back – thanks to you all.
The Chequers is currently under temporary management and new managers will be arriving in June, a young couple apparently who we believe are interested in re-kindling the music scene here.
We arrived to a quiet pub with just a handful of people in residence, but set up in the hopeful knowledge that more would come, especially as the locals had put so much pressure on to get us there. Once the pool table had been put aside we set up as usual, slightly forward of the back wall taking advantage of the masses of space available to us.
By the time we started there were quite a few more in and in the main they had come to see us, some had seen us before and we soon had a good crowd in – thanks to you all again for your continued support.
The night went well and the sound was great, although we did keep the volume down a bit at the request of the landlady, which was good news for those of us that suffer from constant ringing in the ears. We were told to finish no later than 11.30, not our usual request, we are more used to landlords asking us to go on longer. Anyway we finished on time, and we can only apologise to those of you who were expecting more – out of our hands I’m afraid.
Next gig won’t be until the end of the month, given a couple of the band are doing the holiday thing, new venue to us The Boundary at South Normanton, so looking forward to that one.
