The George & Dragon – Review
Another Friday night and another trip out to Ashbourne to one of our favourite venues, The George and Dragon, we all arrived in plenty of time and after a bit of musical cars to find parking spaces in the very full car park we settled to getting our gear in. There’s been a bit of a re-furb at the George and people were still eating on the tables situated in the playing area, so we had a bit of a wait before we could start loading in. After a 45 minute wait we were on and began setting up in our usual spot in the corner bay window next to the open fire.
We were soon set up and ready to go. There were quite a few punters in already enjoying the great selection of beers etc. The Dark Drake was particularly good and Ruth will vouch for.
We cracked off as usual to Don’t Believe a word to what was now a great crowd gathered in front of us. The sound was good and all seemed to be having a good time as we built up the set to it’s natural Highway Star ending.
We had plenty of great feedback from the punters during the break and we thank you all for your very kind words.
Second set started without incident, although halfway through a fracas ensued behind mark were a punter had caught the light stand and sent it flying together with Marks guitar stand sending his prized PRS crashing to the floor. It was nobody’s fault really, by now there was that many in the pub that there was little or no room to move and in such tight spaces accidents do happen. Apart from Mark loosing a string during Gimme All Your Loving, the remainder of our set went really well and we all were a rocking just how we like it.
We finished on a high with everyone singing along and getting in the mood, overall a great gig and thanks you all again for the very positive comments and thanks you to all who came down to support us, we will see you all again in January.
