Old Royal Oak – Review
It hardly seems like we’d played our last chord at the Steamboat when we were back at the Old Royal Oak, a regular and popular haunt of ours and many other local bands. We usually get a good turnout for this one and we were not disappointed – helped by the mini heat wave falling just nicely. Turnout was fantastic and San the drummer’s wife was also there after a bit of a break, nice to see her again – especially as she came armed with her camera to take video.
We were there in plenty of time but suffered a serious delay due to the escapades of the night before, Mick had fixed the cable broken at the Steamboat but the speakers weren’t working – so 35,364 (according to Mick) screws later the problem was found – wires disengaged from the horn due to the fall.
John did a quick drum intro to Run To the Hills (song under development) and the crowd cheered – looks like it’ll be a great addition to the set. The Oak was packed, standing room only by the break, so we dished out our promotion badges, which went down well – need more now.
More head banging and dancing throughout the gig, with young “Jockey Angus” enthusiastically delivering his cue “ANGUS!” during Rosie.
All we can say is that gigs like this make it all worthwhile and give us that warm glow inside, to complement the Tinnitus.
More, More, More – still ringing in our ears we were well chuffed. Bring on The Stumble on Friday. Next day we looked at the video San had taken and were so pleased with the result we have put them on You Tube for everyone to enjoy. Thanks San for a job well done.
