The George & Dragon – Ashbourne
Striking out towards Ashbourne it kinda felt a bit like we were off on our hols, glorious sunshine and extreme heat helped us get in the mood. When we got there we discovered that the Ashbourne Highland Festival was on and the square was already full of revellers, some in good voice as they sang drunkenly along to Oasis, looking back in anger from the open windows of the top floor flat opposite the George, many joined in as they strolled to the next watering hole.
We had a good crowd in the George too, and with the help of copious smoke from the smoke machine and Mark’s new lights, the atmosphere was great, if not breathable. Couldn’t see a bl**dy thing as the lights were straight in our eyes, but we got down to it and rocked the place yet again.
By the break we were all looking for the re-suss machine, dry ice and oxygen as the temperature seemed to soar to what must have been nudging the 40s, even had to take my thermal vest off, chucked into a bag after first ringing it out of course, don’t worry it will be washed before the next gig.
Always a good crowd at the George and we appreciate the positive enthusiasm we sense from you all, cheers.
