The Greyhound Inn – Review

Now that I’ve recovered from what was a fantastic weekend for TTB it’s time to push out the reviews.   First of all let’s draw attention to our visit to The Greyhound Inn in Woodville last Friday night, you know, that great little eatery on the boundary.    It hadn’t been that long since we played this venue and had been called back a bit sooner than usual by Warren due to a cancellation and so, as you might expect, we did have a little reservation as to how well attended it might be.    Ruth and I decided to get there early and sample some of the delightful food on offer, thereby saving on the cooking and those dreadful dishes.  Of course it had to be the steaks, that well tested bench mark for any good food dispensary.    I have to say that they were pretty good,  thick and juicy and cooked to perfection, hmmm, yum yum,  I would definately recommend it to anyone.

There were only a couple of people in when we got there, but one or two started to drift in and we couldn’t help but overhear them enquired at the bar for what band was on.  The bar staff was very helpful and encouraging.  Our appearance was also reasonably well publicised on face book and was also on the electric looking poster thingamajig in the bar.  And not forgetting we had also done a bit of promotion ourselves leading up to the gig.

Steak consumed, the lads began to arrive and so it began,  setting up in our normal methodical and well rehearsed manner, being sure that Glen went no where near a knife and as quick as you can say”what’s that noise”  we were ready to go.   Now then,  looking up it appeared that a crowd was beginning to form,  a lot of familiar faces and our old muso mate Peter Garageegaga or something like anyway,  you know, the bass player from that other great local band Mrs Miggings Pie Shoppe, anyway nice to see you Pete.   Again too many to mention, but you all know who you were, and we were so happy to see you all, and somewhat unexpectedly the place was pretty full by the time we got under way which can only be good.

So we played,  people sang along, clapped and cheered, some jigged and had the more they wanted and we all went home eventually.  Freebies were handed out and all had a great time which is what it’s all about.   Thank you to all who supported us we applaud you, may it continue forever.

The Greyhound Inn is going from strength to strength and is becoming a must do venue for any bands working the Burton scene.  Keeping Live Music Alive.
