The Greyhound – Review

We all arrived at the Greyhound in Woodville this Friday to a light shower which was starting to get a bit heavier,  kind of reminded us of the Mill House gig where we had the worst weather since Noah launched his boat.  However as it turned out we had nothing to fear.  We did wonder though if it might keep a few punters away – but not so, a good crowd turned out yet again.

Another first for TTB the Greyhound was a bit of an unknown quantity,  being a bit of a foodey place,  our experience of which has been pretty poor in the past.  The place was nice and welcoming, and had even provided a couple of doormen – which was a nice touch.

We set up in the corner and had plenty of room to play, although positioning the gear needed some thought as the Greyhound is quite a big sprawling place with pillars separating areas and we needed to decide how to best get our sound around the whole place.   Anyway it was sorted be some oblique positioning of the PA speakers.

Although it didn’t seem it, there was quite a number of punters in to see us, some we knew, others were regulars of the Greyhound, they were warm and welcoming and did their best to encourage us  and seemed to be really enjoying themselves.

The beer was well kept and Steve’s wife Ruth was enjoying one of her favourite beverages, Hobgoblin, which had it’s usual effect.

We went through our set and had a good time receiving great cheers by the end as usual, thanks to all who came down and supported us.  We passed out free badges at the end as usual and one lady invited us to play in her home town – MOSCOW – bit of a trek, but maybe we could brush up on our Russian and learn “Back in the USSR”!

The doorman was also very helpful, opening and closing the door as we came in and out with our kit,  he suggested we get a gig at Skeggy at the MCN do, reckons we’ll go down well there, hmmmm   something to think about.

Anyway, we’re off to the Stumble in Long Eaton tomorrow night, as part of this weekend double,  which we are all looking forward too.
