The Lamb Festival & Crown @ Heather – Review

Well yesterday was the longest day and it certainly was a long day for TTB.  First stop The Lamb Festival at Newhall, posted as having 6 bands on starting from 1pm, with us filling the number 3 slot due to start at 4pm.

We all pitched up around 3ish finding the nearest parking spaces we could on the high street,  the music was a-playing and we watched and enjoyed the  bands preceding us.  A good crowd had gathered and were also enjoying the sun, alcohol and music.  Our turn soon came and we were ably assisted by Chris Baldwin and  the sound guy Bob, who worked with military precision,  finding ourselves on stage before you could say “mine’s a pint”  A big thanks for doing a great job lads.

We cracked through the short set we had prepared and got great cheers and applause after each number, all down to the friendly people of the Lamb and were asked by the Landlady to do an extra song – so we obliged.  You don’t have to ask us twice!

Thanks too go to all those who came down to support this event and for your great feedback and of course lets not forget our new friend Susan Rogers who said some very nice things about us. And thanks to San for the great photos of the day,  you can see them on page 8 of the Gallery.

After all the bands had finished we all sloped off to prepare for our next gig – John and Mick went back home to sort out gear and things whilst Mark, Glen and Myself headed out for our next venue for a cool drink and a chat in the shade.

Arriving at The Crown in Heather we were greeted by the landlord Simon who was pleased to see us as we were he,  we all had great expectations for one of Simon’s famous BACON BUTTIES and were salivating over the mere prospect of securing such a delicacy,  but hey, NO, What – No Bacon Butties —–slump.   Simon explained he was on his own and did offer to make us one – but we didn’t like to impose.    Not to worry though, Glen had brought along packed lunch (must have been a boyscout) and offered them around, although the cheese sandwiches were a bit warm they were much appreciated.

Back to the music thing,  there was a distinct lack of punters this evening, we put it down to the many fetes and festivals going on that day, the fact it was a scorcher and perfect barbeque weather and that Germany were playing on the tele.  But a few did come down again some familiar faces and some new.   We rocked out in our usual manner and all seemed to have a good time,  as did we, bloody hot though in that room – maybe a fan would help.

Cooling down after the gig outside in the yard chatting with a few punters and Simon and looking forward to our return to this great music venue in the upcoming Heather Music Festival, and sipping on our shandies before we headed home after this longest of long days, so-long for now.
